According to a post from Panama's General Directorate of Revenue, officials from India and Panama met on 28 August 2024 to discuss the two sides' interest in signing an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
