According to a release from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Costa Rica and Latvia met 13 April 2018 to discuss areas for bilateral cooperation, including Latvia's interest in signing an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
