On 28 October 2019, officials from Brazil and Qatar met to discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation and agreed to begin negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
