The Belgian Parliament ratified the new income tax treaty and protocol between Belgium and the United States, signed on 27 November 2006, on 19 April 2007 by way of Law No. 51K3054. Once in force the new treaty will generally replace the Belgium-US income tax treaty of 9 July 1970 as amended by the protocol and exchange of notes of 31 December 1987.
